Downtime Review: Capacity Expansion & Site Update!
Published on 8/21/26 12:00 AM UTC
Hello all, if you've been visiting here for awhile now then you may have noticed all the maintenance lately & the new look. At the time of writing this the server is on around 6 days of downtime. Some of you may have some questions about all this downtime, so hopefully this post answers them.
Previously, our server could only hold 8TB; this was sufficient for a long while until Myrient was shutting down. Since they were mostly a redistributor of well-archived sets I didn't pay much attention to anything other than the rarer sets that I know are hard to find. In the time before Myrient shut down we archived around 9TB of such sets, all complete from Myrient. Due to this, we easily filled the remaining drive space to keep it public-facing rather than remove what we already published. This forced us to stop public contributions for awhile in consideration of preserving drive space.
Due to our drive space filling up we'd been planning to upgrade the archive's capacity for awhile now. We've spent the past couple of downtimes preparing for this & updating our back-end in preparation to expand our capacity. After a few grueling days, a burnt wallet (have you seen HDD prices nowadays?), and lots of prayers, we've successfully upgraded our capacity from 8TB to 20TB! This will allow us to continue some of our unfinished existing projects (...brawlvault) & finally show some of the contributions we've been unable to upload.
I hope this post has answered some questions about the extended downtime & upgrades. Thanks for checking us out & browsing the archive!
